Shark Week is almost exactly two months away. What are YOU doing to prepare?
I’m totally kidding. It’s not so serious that you need to host a party in honor of this television event. Although, you are welcome to do so. Continue reading

Memorial Day was designated a holiday to honor our past and current soldiers. These men and women serve our country every day to ensure that we continue to enjoy the freedoms we can easily take for granted sometimes. My family and I usually barbecue at home or try to make it to a local parade or patriotic theme fair. How do you celebrate this important holiday?
The hot summer weather makes it almost unbearable to cook inside sometimes. This is obviously why “cookouts” and barbecues originated. The heat, although perfect for a dip in the pool, is imperfect for putting together a delicious dinner menu. We experimented with fresh grilled veggie and shrimp kebobs and apple/yogurt/granola kebobs today. Dinner turned out delicious and eating outside in the open air felt great. It was an impromptu picnic! Continue reading
Mother’s Day is a special holiday set aside for honoring the special women in our lives that have bravely taken on a nurturing role in our lives. So, of course, that doesn’t just include biological mothers, but godmothers, grandmothers, aunts, friends and female role models that have bent over backwards to shower us with the love and attention we need.
Cinco de Mayo is next week! Again, for the upteenth time, this is not Mexican Independence Day. The holiday observes the day that the Mexican Army defeated the French forces at the Battle of Puebla. So, Cinco de Mayo celebrates Mexican heritage and pride. Join in the festivities this year with a Mexican fiesta party. It’s so much fun to get in the spirit of each holiday!
Today is Earth Day, an annual holiday set aside to demonstrate support for the care of Mother Earth. Now, just because the holiday is only celebrated one day out of the year doesn’t mean we all shouldn’t make personal efforts to conserve our planet each day. After all, our children are the ones who will reap the benefits of a well-preserved environment. Earth Day is one big, important day and guess what? So is your wedding! Why not pay tribute to our planet on your special day by taking the proper measures to be kind to our planet.
Spring is a time of rebirth and also the time most Catholic teenagers receive the sacrament of Confirmation. This sacrament is considered to be the sealing of the covenant made in Holy Baptism, or the moment in which your membership with the church becomes more perfect. In other words, this religious milestone is a big deal and should be treated as such. Continue reading
Easter is tomorrow! I was stressing over what to give the children I tutor for Easter and I wanted to share what I ended up making them. We forget how easy it is to please children sometimes. We need to take a lesson from them in appreciating the little things in life. This holiday is about so much more than Easter bunnies and egg hunts, but I’ll let their parents handle that part of the lesson. I made them makeshift carrots out of goldfish crackers!
My adorable nephew received his baptism sacrament last Saturday. To celebrate, my friend put together a simple, yet elegant celebration for him at her in-law’s place and it turned out perfect. My 8th grade science teacher always taught us to stick to the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) rule and it is by far some of the best advice I’ve ever heard. Don’t overdo it. I’d rather be classy than overly trendy.

Spring is in full bloom, which means summer is not far behind. I can’t wait. The sun has already begun teasing us here in California. I know that isn’t saying much, but I promise warm days are upon us, everyone! Can you tell this is my favorite time of the year? It’s the best time to do almost every fun activity, particularly ones that involve children.
Get excited with me!
