County Fair - Celebrate!
Our County Fair will be opening in a few weeks, and the decor around town is already changing to support it! County fairs and rodeos are typically a great way for young people to be involved in farming and home skills, to showcase them to others, and to be recognized for their hard work. In my small town, the County Fair is a huge event, closing schools for a day and allowing everyone a chance to be involved in our community.
We typically have a gathering of neighbors during the weekend of our County Fair. Our guests usually pitch in and the celebration is more “pot luck” than anything. To prepare for this event, I usually set up two long tables and allow everyone to dock their dish along the area. We serve up our food buffet style! Decorating with a fun Western theme or Gingham theme is a great way to tie in the County Fair atmosphere. While the Western themed partyware is a typical rodeo scene, complete with a bucking bronco, the Gingham theme lends itself well to being more universal in nature. Extra supplies can be used in a number of other ways, from picnics to school lunches, other large gatherings or even smaller family events.
The most important part of our County Fair week is spending it with family and friends. We all enjoy each others company, each others cooking and each others time!
