Cutlery - And Presentation
Goodness knows, when you are hosting an event for a large group of people, plastic cutlery is almost a must. Even at smaller functions, using plastic is sometimes the best plan (especially at cookouts and picnics!). However, just because you are using plasticware doesn’t excuse you from creating an appealing place setting. Here are some easy ideas for dressing up your plastic cutlery.
- Layers! Stack your entire place setting on the plate. If you are using paper or plastic plates, use them for your “base”. Then, place a napkin, followed by a set of cutlery. Using colored plasticware will make it fun to mix and match, coordinating with the color scheme of the event!
- Stash your sets of flatware in pretty envelopes. Look for those that open at the ends for a unique feel. The envelopes can also serve as place cards at a larger event!
- If you are using caterwraps, purchased or your own, recycle cardboard bottle carriers from beer and glass sodas. They are perfect for holding sets of silverware, and are easy to tote with the handle!
- Want a unique idea for a napkin ring? Use pipe fittings found at your local hardware store. Mix and match styles while staying with the same finish of metal. They are unique and a great conversation starter!
