Easy For Anyone King Cake Recipe
Be ready on January 6th with this fantastically easy recipe for King Cake! It is perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients:
1 can of cinnamon rolls or cinnamon ”twists” with icing
3/4 cup of sugar
food coloring
Take apart each cinnamon roll and straighten them. Or, if using the cinnamon twists, undo each twist and make straight. Braid or twist two or three lengths together, adding new ones to the end of each strand until you have one long braid or twist. Gather the ends together to create a circle and position it on a baking sheet. Follow the directions on the package for cooking the rolls. While they are in the oven, tint the sugar using food coloring. Traditionally, the colors used are yellow, green and purple (you can combine red and blue to make purple). After the rolls are finished baking, top with the icing and sprinkle with the colored sugar. Allow to cool for a few minutes before eating.
If you would like to “hide” a trinket in your ring to be found while eating, be sure that it is fully enclosed in the dough. And, warn those that will be eating it to be watching for it before they swallow!
