Father’s Day

June 15 is Father’s Day this year in the U.S., and families all over the country will be celebrating and honoring those men in their lives who have given them life.  Father’s Day is also celebrated throughout the year in other countries.  Here are some wonderful and simple ways to remember Dad this year (beyond the ugly tie).

  • Flowers - flowers or a plant are a perfect gesture for telling Dad that he is appreciated.  Flowers are not just for girls; and Dad will appreciate the thought!
  • Homemade cards - no matter your age, nothing shows more thought and love than creating a handmade card.  Include a favorite photo or a short memory of a special time.
  • Snacks - what Dad doesn’t like to snack?  Give him a basket of his favorites - homemade cookies, popcorn, chips and salsa - or go a step beyond and prepare a favorite meal for him.
  • Help His Hobby - does Dad enjoy outdoor cooking?  Is he a fisherman or a gardener?  Does he take pride in washing his car?  How does Dad spend his precious spare time?  Give him something that will complement that activity, such as new barbeque tools, an afternoon of fishing, some new yard implements or a free car wash!

Celebrating Father’s Day can be as simple as a nice sit-down dinner, or it can be a gathering of the clan.  Finding a coordinating decor is a great way to show Dad how much he is appreciated.  If the man-of-the-hour is a sports fanatic, choose a sports theme.  Or, if he enjoys fishing or hunting, look for decor to showcase that.  If Dad is a gambling man, go with a fun casino or poker theme.  Or, if outdoor eating is Dad’s fare, use a simple red gingham - checkered tablecloth look!

Make Dad feel a bit more special this year at Father’s Day.  Celebrate those that help bring new life into the world!
