Go Bold For Your Wedding
In browsing through many a decorating, bridal and home-style magazine, one trend is definitely here: putting the punch into a gathering, most prominently at weddings and receptions. While muted pastels, jewel-tones, black and white have often times been the color scheme of choice, brides these days are searching for that extra element of surprise and splendor. Color easily creates that atmosphere.
Try unusual, yet bold, colors, such as lime, tangerine or bright purples. Nature can certainly lend a hand with these colors with springtime blooms in coordinating hues. Match the color hue to the bridesmaid’s gowns and men’s tuxedos to tie it all together, or go with a complementary color to offset the bold punch of color.
Move away from standard white linens and look for alternative colors, such as ecru, tan, or browns. Simplify centerpieces by simply placing a few blossoms in the chosen color in water goblets on the table. If the color you choose is a difficult color to match a florist will “dye” flowers for you. Or, do your own. Use white daisies, and let them sit for a couple of days in a glass of colored water.
Even the bride’s cake can go a bit less traditional. Perhaps a lovely yellow-lemon cake would go well with the bold color, or try an almond colored frosting with white piping for a sophisticated touch.
When using a bolder, less traditional color, try to incorporate it into as many elements as possible so as to make everything “flow”. Dress up the ring bearer’s pillow with a matching satin ribbon. Use the color scheme in bridesmaids bouquets as well as the bride’s, favors for the guests should also incorporate the color scheme of the ceremony.
Going with a bold color is a wonderful way to personalize the Big Day. Make sure to use it throughout the decor to tie everything together.
