Quick Ideas For Entertaining

No one likes to be bogged down with tedious little chores before an event, no matter how large or small the gathering will be.  Here are some great tips to simplify tasks for the host or hostess while still adding a personal touch to the evening.

  1. Mark your spot - instead of traditional place cards at a dinner setting, consider cutting out pictures of celebrities from magazines that resemble each guest.  The guests will have fun figuring out who is who, and these can be reused for multiple events.
  2. Centerpiece in a Second - buy a bulk-bag of mixed fruit, apples, or oranges, and dump them in a large, decorative bowl.  Voila!  Instant centerpiece!
  3. Invest in a Turntable - “Lazy Susan” turntables are great for buffets and condiment areas.  Meals are never boring when you can spin them in front of you!
  4. Is it Live? - Invest in a variety of silk flowers that can be used and re-used over and over.  The initial cost may be more than purchasing cut flowers, but the extended use time makes them a wise investment.  Mix silks with cut flowers for a more realistic feel.  When using cut flowers, don’t throw out any petals that fall off.  These are great to sprinkle around the condiments or amongst the drink choices, dressing up the area a bit.
