Sending Cards For The Holidays

I just finished my Christmas cards this past weekend.  Sending out cards to friends and family this time of year is important to me; it is a part of my tradition to remember people I care about and don’t get to see or talk to very often. Plus, what a great gift - mail that isn’t a bill or “junk”!  So, I try to make each card and letter I send out at this time of year a little gift all on its own - something special.

Holiday greetings can be anything as simple as well wishes for the coming year to detailed recaps of the events over the past 12 months.  People sometimes include photos, family recipes, quips from the kids, sometimes even catchy poetry.  I like to, regardless of whether I send simply a card or the family recap, make sure I sign each greeting personally, writing a short candid note directly to the recipient.

Part of making the greeting appealing is choosing a smart-looking stationery upon which to print.  Papers come in a variety of types, from whimsical to elegant.  The stationery should fit the mood of the greeting.  Plus, specialty papers can be used to make a one-of-a-kind card-style greeting or for writing the family tome of the year.  Papers offer the opportunity to be flexible in their use.

And, make it a catchy greeting by throwing a few pieces of holiday confetti in the letter as well.  It is like receiving a little party in the mailbox.  I especially like the oversized confetti; it is different and unique.  And confetti can come in so many designs and styles…you can go with something subdued as snowflakes or stars, or you can use something more festive such as packages, snowmen or peppermint candies

Add some fun to your holiday greetings this year!
