Spring Book Talk - Mother Daughter Edition
Who says books are a solitary enjoyment? Group reading is a wonderful way to forge friendships, build relationships and connections, and explore literature you may or may not otherwise attempt to read. This love of reading and sharing can be easily shared with younger readers in a Mother-Daughter Book party.
Plan the event around a snack for easy preparations or enjoy a luncheon for a more elaborate affair. Set the table with festive colors, whimsical prints, and use piles of books for a centerpiece. Invite the young guests to bring a favorite stuffed animal friend to share in the fun if it is a really young group. While discussing a common book is typically what book talks are about, you can alter this idea and make it a book exchange. Have the guests bring books they have either outgrown or no longer read and swap for different titles from their friends. It is an inexpensive way to get a lot of use out of those books! For party favors, consider purchasing blank canvas book bags from your local craft store and allow the guests to decorate their own book bag.
Celebrate a love of books and reading with others with a get-together that does just that - celebrates books and reading. Share your ideas here as well!
