Spring Parties - Simplified

Want to host a get-together this Spring, but the thought of all the work to entertain stands in your way?  Here are some great tips for creating a wonderful event without breaking your neck (and stressing yourself out) in the process!

  1. Go disposable.  With the variety of paper plates and dinnerware available, you can set your table for entertaining this Spring in whatever color or theme you desire!  Floral designs, in both bold and pastel colors, are good choices, and the classic red-checked picnic design is a great idea, too.  Look for dinnerware available in shapes other than simple round plates; square plates make an exciting statement to a table setting!
  2. If the weather is favorable, consider an outdoor party.  Cleaning the inside of the house is no longer a priority, and the fresh air is wonderful for everyone!  Incorporate the outdoors into your table decor regardless of an indoor or outdoor venue.  Cut fresh stems of flowers and greenery from the yard and situate in a variety of containers, such as small pitchers, candle holders, vases, and bowls.
  3. For a unique centerpiece, consider creating a dessert tree.  Using a small holiday tree (or create your own by sinking a branch into plaster of paris), decorate with cookie “ornaments” you can make yourself.  Dessert becomes the main event!  To make the ornaments, simply make cookie cutter cookies from sugar cookie dough and create a hole in the top of each before baking.  After the cookies have cooled (and after frosting them if you so desire), thread a string through the hole and tie together for hanging on the tree.

Whether in your own back yard or at the local park, an outdoor party or luncheon is sure to get everyone in the Springtime mood!
