Okay I’m obsessed with carrot cake and carrot cupcakes and carrot everything probably. I came across a recipe for Halloween Carrot Pancakes in my Cooking Light magazine last week and I could not wait until I had a spare minute to make some for breakfast. Turns out, Halloween pancakes are perfect to start off your holiday! I really cannot recommend these enough to anyone wanting a celebrate their holiday from the very beginning…and I’m not even a breakfast-lover!
Children have simpler palettes than we adults do. Obviously, it is because there taste for food is still developing and therefore more geared toward plain foods. Instead of reprimanding them for being “picky,” we should make an effort to make and pack meals that are kid-friendly. No one wants to pick up their children from school and be handed a lunchbox with a lunch that hasn’t been touched. We’d go crazy thinking our kids are going hungry…when there’s a sack lunch right next to them! Continue reading
Hosting a kid’s pool party can be very daunting. Specifically because you need to worry about the adult to child ratio and/or hiring life guards to ensure that everyone is safe during the water-filled festivities. The least of your worries should be the menu. Kids are easy to please in the food department, as long as you keep the foods light and simple. Continue reading
The Lenten season has managed to creep up on us one more time, but never fear! I’ve been exploring vegetarian dishes for at least 6 months so I have a few lunch ideas for the next few meatless Fridays!
Our office hosted the building Christmas party tonight and it was a success. The theme this year, and the past 3 years (what? why fix what isn’t broken?) has been a wine potluck appetizer sprinkled with desserts. What type of company or building holiday parties do you guys host/attend? Please feel free to share! Continue reading
A couple weeks ago, our boss brought a delicious lentil vegetable soup in to the office to share with everyone. It was so good, I wanted to share the recipe with you, MyPaperShoppers! In all honesty, all I really did was go to the supermarket across the street to pick up a fluffy loaf of sourdough bread. Continue reading
This heat wave has successfully overstayed its welcome and I can assure you, cooking over a hot stove is on nobody’s wish list. For weeks, I’ve been scouring the internet for fresh meals like veggie and fruit salads. Apart from wanting to keep cool, I’ve also been doing my research as I ease myself into being a pescatarian. Continue reading
Our new school year begins on August 22nd and I’m only now just starting to pull out school supply check lists and check school uniform inventory. Great. If you’re anything like me, you’ll need some sort of checklist or it’s guaranteed that you’ll forget to do at least one important thing (I’m being dramatic). Seriously though, this is my current to-do list — please share any tips or important “to-do’s” you may have on your list that aren’t on mine: Continue reading
Summer is here!! I hope you’re just as excited as I am. This is my favorite season — are you kidding me? Pool parties, summer cocktails, weekend trips, beach days, the adventures are endless. I know it’s not the same as when we were children and we had those three months of vacation to which to look forward, but summer is still such a happy season. I have the best memories of camping trips and family vacations. Continue reading
