Here’s how to decorate for your next school party or event without any stress
Summer has had us sweating, but soon it’s going to be time for the kids to head back into the air-conditioned schoolrooms that they’re so desperately trying to avoid. For students, this means an end to summertime freedom, but it also marks the start of a new year for teachers and school administrators.
A new school year begins with a lot of work and preparation on the part of these school employees, and it’s not all just multiplication and proper grammar. For teachers, especially those in elementary schools, decorating for the seemingly endless events and holidays that follow one after another during the school year can seem almost impossible. Luckily, we’re here to tell you that while these events may seem like a chore sometimes, the perfect decorations aren’t as hard to find as you might think.
How do you handle birthdays in your office? Does someone always end up having to run out the night before to buy some decorations and paper plates for the celebration? Or even dashing out the morning of?
What about when clients come for meetings? Do you offer them refreshments, but then have to hand them their drink in a boring, cheap white Styrofoam coffee cup?
Wouldn’t it be nice if you had a stash of premium party supplies in your office that you could make use of whenever the occasion presented itself? If you were ready for any celebration or any meeting at a moment’s notice, without having to send someone to the store in a panic, or settle for using paper products that don’t do justice to your company’s image?
Then why not stock up on bulk party supplies from My Paper Shop? There are countless reasons why being prepared is a good idea. Here are the top three.
Decorating is a huge part of the Halloween holiday fun and arts and crafts projects usually go hand in hand with this rather important task. One of the basic, not to mention classic, elements of decorating for All Hallow’s Eve is pumpkin carving! Go pick out the perfect pumpkin(s), download your favorite stencil (or do your own if you’re so lucky to be that talented), carve, pop a candle inside and voila. It adds instant festive flair to your porch or home entrance. Make a day of it in the next couple of weeks so that you can display it for a good amount of time before the big night.

My good friend’s (and co-worker) in-laws host a Mexican Independence Day party every year, and every year it gets more and more elaborate. That doesn’t have to be a negative thing. Some people are just natural hosts and power to them. This holiday is celebrated on September 15, not to be confused with Cinco de Mayo. Claudia was kind of enough to snap a few pictures for us to share with you. I think they provide a pretty great outline of amazing way to decorate for a Mexican Independence Day Fiesta! Viva Mexico!:

The countdown to Halloween can begin as early as today. Okay you might be able to wait a week or two, but this spooky holiday is right around the corner. Fall officially begins next week. Crazy, right? Either way, if you’re planning on hosting a Halloween party bash this year, I suggest you start budgeting and compiling a list now. It’ll make you life SO much easier and you’ll have time to find the things you need at reasonable prices. Continue reading
Finding activities to entertain teenagers almost requires psychic powers or a miracle perhaps. If you suggest one thing, they want to do the exact opposite. Mostly out of spite or worry that whatever you suggested just isn’t cool enough. Regardless, they come around sometimes if you convince enough of their friends to join in. If you’re hosting a Halloween party this year, consider some of these spectacularly spooky party games that could 1.) crank up your ghoul, I mean cool, mom factor or 2.) actually get these tweens to participate and have a great time!
The time has come, everyone! We survived the end of the world, so yes, it’s time to celebrate big and ring in 2013. This past year we enjoyed the 2012 Olympics and once more were overcome with awe and fascination by all of the superb athletes across the world, we experienced one of the most controversial presidential elections in years, we lost one of the biggest pop icons, we made great strides in the scientific fields and so much more. Let’s take a moment to appreciate the good and the bad, since it’s what’s molded who we are at this very second. What are you grateful for at the end of 2012? And what are you looking forward to in 2013?

Next month is the celebration of our country’s independence again. I can already hear the sound of Disneyland’s spectacular fireworks show for the grand occasion.
While many are typically accustomed to going out of town for the weekend, these days many are more inclined to celebrate at home in the backyard. It’s more relaxing and economical to invite a few friends over for some afternoon gossip and barbecue. Set up some tables with disposable plastic table covers so the kids have a chance to unleash their creative side with some fun patriotic projects. I can guarantee some pretty snazzy flags by the end of the day.
Use 4th of July themed plates and napkins to add color and a festive touch to almost any outdoor event. If you and yours can’t go for that annual camping trip this year, let camping come to you. Pitch the tent and have an outdoor slumber party in the backyard. The kids will love it.
St. Patrick’s Day is around the corner. Although I hate being pinched and no, I am not Irish, this day is so much fun.If you find your inner self screaming, “Where is me-snack?!” then I strongly suggest engaging in the art of “Shamrock Yummies”:
- Slice the green pepper crosswise near the top to get a shamrock-shaped slice (they usually turn out with 3 points)
- Cut a small slice off the end to create a stem
- Broil cheddar cheese on the English muffin and top it off with the shamrock!
- Enjoy your gold-en treats after setting them on foil shamrock shaped doilies!
