The Easter Bunny’s Coming!

Stock up now!  Easter is early this year - March 23rd.  No sooner do we have the New Year behind us as Easter is breathing down our necks.  Bunnies and eggs are showing up in windows, displays and shelves!

At our church, Easter means POT LUCK LUNCHEON.  It is a long-standing tradition in our congregation to gather together in fellowship over a meal during the Easter celebration.  The only guideline is that each family is asked to bring a dish to share.  No one is “assigned” a category for food.  We’ve never had an occasion where everyone brought only desserts (although that certainly would not hurt my feelings!).  There is always a good mix of Mrs. Pollard’s green bean casserole, Mr. and Mrs. Koss’ chicken spaghetti and the Merritt’s triple chocolate fudge brownies.

Since it is one of our biggest celebrations each year, our congregation spruces up our gym with table centerpieces and festive dinnerware.  We even make sure to purchase a special design solely for the kids in the church.  Our luncheon is always capped off with an Easter egg hunt on the church playground and storytelling afterwards.  It is an amazing way to come together as a church family on Easter.
